According to data released by Unica – Union of Sugar Cane Industry, the proportion of sugar cane destined to ethanol production reached 50.38% by December 31 in the Center South. In the last period, the percentage recorded was 51.56%.
The production of ethanol accumulated through December totaled 21.28 billion liters, an increase of 3.58% from the 2011/12 harvest. Of this total, 8.84 billion liters refer to anhydrous ethanol (significant increase of 18.44% compared to last season) and 12.44 billion liters of hydrous ethanol.
In December alone, the volumes of anhydrous ethanol and hydrous ethanol totaled, respectively, 404,770,000 and 491,190,000 liters liters. In relation to the production of sugar, in the last month, production reached 1.16 million tons, against 178,580 tons cleared in the same month of 2011.
