The Union of Sugar Cane Industry (UNICA) will promote on March 31, a conference with the press for disclosure of estimated production of sugar cane, sugar and ethanol for the next crop in the Central-South , which officially begins next month. On the occasion it will also be released the final results of the 2010/2011 season, ended in March.
The organization’s president, Marcos Jank, and technical director, Antonio de Padua Rodrigues will participate in the conference
The authority released the latest projection for the 2010/2011 season on Feb. 10. The grinding of cane sugar by producing units of the South-Central region totaled until January 31, 556,190,000 tons, an increase of 2.63% compared with the previous harvest.
Sugar production in the period rose 16.86% to 33.47 million tons produced in the current crop of ethanol and increased 7% to 25.34 billion liters, according to the entity.
The market is signaling a “tight” crop and also a possible drop in production of up to 5% in South Central.
