Ugandan Kakira Sugar Limited is set to significantly increase its power generation capacity after completing the construction of its co-generation plant at the factory. The expansion project will result in a 30-MW-increase in power output.
Around 65 million dollars were invested in the new plant to generate 52 MW by July , said Kakira’s managing director, Mayur Madhvani. He added that the factory will be able to crush two million tonnes of cane per year, increasing sugar production to 180,000 tons per year. With information from New Vision.
