Sugar: down in international markets and up in Brazil


Yesterday the price of sugar fell on foreign markets. In New York, the contracts due in march/13, ended at 18.16 cents per pound, down three points compared with the previous day. In the London stock exchange, contracts due in the same date, recorded losses of $ 2.30 per ton, priced at U.S. $ 490.40 per ton.

In Brazil, according to the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (CEPEA / Esalq), the trend was reversed. The plants negotiated the bag of 50 kilos of crystal type with appreciation of 0.10%, closing the day at R$ 47.88.
