São Martinho Group bought for R$ 199.6 million, the agricultural assets from São Carlos plant, in Jaboticabal, SP, controlled by Biosev, which is part of Louis Dreyfus Commodities.

The assets, which were transferred to a new company, to be called Newco, constitute around 1.85 million tons of sugar cane, which will be processed in São Martinho mill, located 30 miles away from these plantations .

According to Fabio Venturelli, president of Grupo São Martinho, the unit is configured, as of this moment, as the world’s largest milling capacity, which is 8.8 million tonnes of cane per harvest.
