Raizen is ending the crop year 2012/13 with about eight thousand hectares of planted area certified by Valore, a certification program created by Bayer CropScience and audited by TÜV Rheinland, a leading certification in the world. Altogether, eight suppliers of sugar cane company in Piracicaba were audited. Together, those involved are responsible for the production of 600 million tonnes.
The certification attests Valore compliance with the basic principles of the program include integrated management system, adoption of good agricultural practices, concern for the environment and worker safety, and strict compliance with Brazilian legislation.
For 2013, it is estimated to have about 600 000 tonnes certified. As for the next eight years, the company aims to have all its suppliers within the certification standards required globally.
