Poet latest ethanol producer to announce sorghum deal

POET, one of the biggest ethanol producers in the world, has signed an agreement with crop breeding and seeds manufacturer Chromatin for the use of sorghum in ethanol production.

The agreement covers up to 4,400 acres of the grain that will be grown in South Dakota and used at Poet’s Chancellor plant, around 20 miles southwest of Sioux Falls. The largest of Poet’s plants, the facility utilises around 35m bushels of maize annually to produce 110m gallons of ethanol and 56,000 tonnes of dried distillers grains with soluble.
