Mozambique – Sugar industry seen as role model

The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) says the sugar industry is serving as a model for development of commercial agriculture in Mozambique, demonstrating the country’s potential in this sector, according to local press reports.

Last year, sugar production totalled 243,538 tonnes, or 23% more than in 2011, and was the second most important exported agricultural product, after tobacco, the EIU said.
