Iraq buys 71,750 T white sugar from UAE – trade ministry

Iraq has bought 71,750 tonnes of white sugar from the United Arab Emirates in a tender for nominal 50,000 tonnes, which closed on March 5, a trade ministry statement said on Monday.

Iraq is the world’s second largest white sugar importer after the United States with an annual consumption estimated in the 2012-2013 period at 795,000 tonnes, according to trade group the International Sugar Organisation (ISO).
