Indonesia’s 2013 White Sugar Output Seen Hit by Wet Weather

Jakarta. Indonesia’s white sugar output is expected to fall 15 percent to 2.2 million tones next year, as wet weather dents production in Southeast Asia’s largest sugar consumer, an industry official told Reuters on Wednesday.

White sugar output in Indonesia is projected to be 2.6 million tones this year, but could fall back to 2011’s figure of 2.2 million tones next year, Arum Sabil, chairman at Indonesia’s Association of Sugarcane Farmers (APTRI) said.
