Indian sugar producers suffer from flood

Farmers in northern India , mostly in the district of East Godavari , are suffering more than a month with the effect of Phailin cyclone , which hit the country in late October . About 20 % of crops were damaged , and of these , 3,981 hectares of sugarcane were flooded , among other crops . The deputy director of the Department of Agriculture of the country , Lakshman Rao , said it was too early to calculate the total loss, but losses were definitely extensive.
