German Sugar Output to Fall 3.1%

German sugar output from beets is forecast to fall 3.1 % due to lower yields for the roots and a decrease in planting, according to industry group Wirtschaftliche Vereinigung Zucker. Germany is second-largest sugar-beet grower in the EU.

Beet-sugar production is estimated to decrease to 4.51 million metric tons this year from 4.65 million tons in the 2011-12 crop year.
