France – CGB sees 2012/13 sugar beet crop at only 33.1 mln t

French sugar beet growers federation CGB said it expects the country’s 2012/13 beet crop to fall to 33.1 mln tonnes due to both a drop in area and yield.

This is even below the Agriculture Ministry’s November forecast for the current crop of 33.493 mln tonnes, which it had reduced from 34.149 mln in its October projection and which compares with 37.259 mln tonnes of beet harvested a year ago.
