Export of sugar allowed in Pakistan


Economic Committee of the Cabinet (ECC), Pakistan’s highest forum for economic decision-making, has decided to allow export of 1.2 million tonnes of surplus stocks of sugar in the country.

The panel which met under Finance Minister Salim Mandwiwala also decided to allow subsidy of Rs1.75 per kg to exporters. Sources said that the inland freight subsidy on sugar would have an impact of Rs 2.1 billion on the exchequer.
