EU approves further sugar imports, out-of-quota sugar sales

The EU’s sugar management committee approved the last in a series of four tenders to boost sugar supplies on the EU market for the 2012/13 marketing year, through a combination of additional imports and releasing out-of-quota domestic produce.

The committee approved 150,883 tonnes of raw sugar imports for refining at a minimum import duty of EUR141 per tonne and 44,255 tonnes of white sugar at a minimum tariff of EUR161 per tonne.
