Decline in sugar production in China

The Chinese sugar production fell by 4.9% according to data from the CSA – Sugar Association of China (China Sugar Association). The Asian country produced about 2.3 million tonnes of sugar in December 2013 which represents a decrease of 4.9% compared to 2.4174 million produced in the same month of 2012. The production of sugar from sugarcane grinding first peak related to the 2013/14 crop fell 3.4% from 2,162,500 in December 2012 to 2,088,400 tonnes in December 2013, while the production of sugar from beets fell 17.9% from 209,400 tonnes to 254,900.
