Cane harvest in the Center-South of Brazil reached 510.51 million tons in 2012-2013

On Monday , Unica (Union of Sugar Cane Industry) released the updated balance of crushing in the center-south of Brazil. It said the volume of cane processed by units in the second half of November totaled 28.52 million tons, a figure higher than the last cycle, when it came to 9.22 million tons.

For Antonio de Padua Rodrigues, technical director of the organization, after a difficult year, the weather during this period contributed. “This growth is due to the drier climate, they did not bring problems to the harvest, and the largest number of units in operation.”
