One of the biggest events of the sugarcane industry in Latin America will be held in Brazil in 2014. The official announcement for the Congress of Atalac (The Sugar Technicians Association from Latin America and Caribbean) was made last Tuesday .
Focused on the sugarcane agribusiness sector, the event expects to receive techniciansl from different countries interested in knowing the Brazilian technological excellence and will take place between October 19th and 24th, 2014, at the Convention Center of Pernambuco, Olinda. “Latin America has an important place in the sugar cane culture and Brazil is powerful in the industry,” says Carlos Henrique Acosta Saenz, president of Atalac.
The choice for Brazil to hold the Congress was set during a session held in Colombia last year, in the last edition.
Sugar production in Colombia totaled 2.20 million tonnes, lower than the expected number due to the lack of rain.
