Argentina: Sugar production increased 7.5% in Tucuman

The sugar harvest, which ended with the closure Santa Rosa´s crushing , resulted in a 7,5% increase in sugar , compared to last season, said the Tucumán ´s Sugar Regional Centre (CART). This year it produced 1.289 million tons of sugar, up from 1.199 million in 2011.

According to the report, ethanol output was also higher than in 2011: a total of 90,000 tons were converted into alcohol and exceeded 71,644 in 2011, representing a 25.6% increase in the product.

According to the records, the 15 mills from Tucuman have crushed this year 14.1 million tons of sugarcane for sugar and alcohol, consistent with the provisions of the Experimental Station Obispo Colombres (EEAOC) and 3% higher than the 13.7 million tons processed in the 2011 harvest.
