Brazil: Ethanol sales down more than 10% in 2012

According to the report released by Unica, ethanol sales by mills in the South Central region of Brazil, accumulated from April to July 15, fell 10.82% over the volume traded in the same period in 2011, reaching 5, 55 billion liters. Of this total, 4.92 billion liters were destined for the domestic market and only 628.84 million liters for export. For the domestic market, 1.83 billion liters were of anhydrous ethanol and 3.10 billion liters of hydrated ethanol.

In the first half of July, sales of ethanol reached 850.11 million gallons, roughly equal the 856.13 million liters sold in the previous fortnight, but 22.43% less than in the same period last year, which reached 1.10 billion liters, according to the entity. Of the total amount sold in this fortnight, 675.91 million liters were allocated to the domestic market.

Unica also revealed that from total domestic sales in the first half of July, 260,050,000 gallons refer to anhydrous ethanol and 415,860,000 liters to hydrous ethanol.
